Lectors & Commentators

Mission:

To proclaim the Word of God in the Mass liturgy.

Activities:

Proclaim the Word of God using a strong public speaking voice, a commitment to continued improvement of speaking skills and a dedication to practice and prepare during the week prior to proclaiming the Word of God. Training is available for new lectors at their convenience. Lector schedules take individuals’ preferences into account whenever possible.

Liturgical Vestments & Fabric

Mission:

To maintain, clean and sew the vestments and fabrics that are needed in the liturgies at St. Francis of Assisi Church.

Activities:

Clean linens and vestments. Make linens and vestments as needed. Repair and maintain or discard damaged items.

Music

Mission:

The music ministry is designed to assist and lead the congregation in the celebration of the Liturgy. This requires the time and talent of many people including organist, instrumentalists and singers. Included in the St. Francis music ministry are a large traditional choir, which sings every Sunday at the 10:00 a.m. Mass; a men’s choir, which sings the third Sunday of the month at the 11:30 a.m. Mass; and a small select group, the Sacred Ensemble, which sings every third Saturday. New members are always welcome and needed in all of these groups. For more information, please call the Church office or just come to rehearsal!

Offertory Gifts

Mission:

To arrange for parish families to carry up Offertory Gifts during the weekend Masses.

Activities:

Pre-Mass Rosary Leaders

Mission:

To pray the Rosary as a parish family in preparation for the Mass and to encourage more participation by parish members, either leading the Rosary or coming early to pray the Rosary.

Activities:

Coordinate volunteers to lead the Rosaries that begin approximately 25 to 30 minutes before each Saturday evening and Sunday Mass (except 10:00 Sunday Mass).

Perpetual Adoration

Mission:

To encourage and promote Adoration of Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament through 24-hour exposition in the Chapel.

Activities:

People volunteer to spend time (of their choosing) in adoration before the exposed Blessed Sacrament.

Sacristans

Mission:

To assist the Priest in preparing the sanctuary for daily and Sunday Masses.

Activities:

Sacristans are present 30 minutes before Mass to prepare and arrange sacred vessels and aids for the Mass. They assure that assigned ministers and altar servers are present. Storage of all items after Mass will take about 20 minutes. Other duties will be taught at yearly meetings with the pastor and included in training and printed guidelines.
