Prayer

Our Lady of Medjugorje Prayer Group

Mission:

To create a community of Medjugorje faithful to pray for peace and inspire others to spread and live the messages.

Activities:

Prayer group meets once a month to share/discuss the monthly messages - Rosary - Divine Mercy Chaplet (in front of the Eucharist) - Snacks and occasional potluck.

Elijah Cup

Mission:

Fostering vocations through family prayer. (This is a great activity for children.)

Activities:

At the end of communion each weekend, the priest calls the scheduled family or individual forward to receive the Chalice. He asks them to take home this Chalice and pray for vocations during the week. On your scheduled weekend, you are to check in with the priest before Mass to let them know you are the Elijah Cup family.

Families of Military

Mission:

To provide a sense of “family” within the parish to those who have family members serving in a branch of the U.S. Military. Also to bring about awareness within our parish that people we know and who attend our own parish are actively serving our country and need our prayers.

Activities:

Maintain an ongoing list in our parish bulletin of those family members currently deployed, who are in most need of our prayers. There is also a display of these names in a case in our adoration chapel.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Rosary Group

Mission:

To promote a time once a week for parishioners to join together and pray the Rosary.

Activities:

Rosaries are said each Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the church. First Saturday Rosary, Litany and Consecration to Mary after the 8:00 a.m. Mass. Other prayer services are also coordinated throughout the year which includes May Crowning, October Respect Life Rosary & Benediction, Divine Mercy Sunday service.

Liturgy of the Hours

Mission:

To come together and recite the prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours before Mass in preparation for the celebration of the Eucharist.

Activities:

Recite the prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours beginning at 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday meeting in the northeast pews of the church.

Marian Mantle Prayer Group

Mission:

The Marian Mantle group unites ourselves and our loved ones to Our Sorrowful Mother, finding hope in Mary’s protection and her prayers. Every Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. in the Church, we pray the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet for all fallen away Catholics. Our goal is to work and pray together in the hope that every Catholic will someday see the return of their family or friends to the Holy Mother Church.

Parish Prayer Committee

Mission:

To foster faith formation and prayer in the home.

Activities:

Providing resources to encourage individuals to strengthen their faith and prayer lives at home. Resources currently offered include Vocation Calendars, Children’s Bulletins and various devotionals. Goal’s include furthering our mission with Vernacular articles and a presence on social media on the parish website and in the school’s weekly Flash. We welcome new members who wish to assist with current activities or who have ideas for new projects.

Prayer Chain

Mission:

To Promote our love of God through prayer for the needs and intentions of our parishioners and others.

Activities:

The prayer chain consists of either a phone chain or e-mail chain. Volunteers offer their individual prayers and daily sacrifices for the intention of each request.

  • Phone Chain: The chairpersons pass on the prayer requests through all prayer chain lists compiled from the stewardship volunteer forms. The daytime chain is from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the evening chain from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Prayers are passed down the chain.

  • E-mail Chain: Prayer requests are received at your e-mail address.

Religious Vocations

Mission:

To help foster priestly and religious vocations.

Activities:

Members assist the pastor and all parishioners to become more aware of the fact that Christ is calling everyone to a particular vocation in the church. Among those, we can be confident that some are called to be priests and some to be sisters. Committee members help to create an atmosphere in which the call may be heard and encouraged.

This committee welcomes all parish members to join one or more of its subgroups to help foster and support vocations.

  • 31 Club: Individuals commit to offering a Mass and prayers one day each month for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

  • Write to a Seminarian or person studying for religious life: Parishioners write letters to individuals studying for the priesthood or religious life.

  • St. Francis Statue: Parishioners sign up to take the statue of our parish’s patron saint home for a week and pray each day of that week for religious and priestly vocations.

Rosary Group

Mission:

Our mission is to gather weekly to offer our prayers for the needs of our families, our parish and the universal Church.

Activities:

The Rosary is said at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday mornings in the St. Bonaventure Center or at the home of one of the members.

Vietnamese Prayer Group

Mission:

To unite Vietnamese parishioners to strengthen their faith in the Lord and have a deeper understanding of His presence in our daily lives.

Activities:

Scriptural rosary and adoration every 3rd Sunday of the month in the Church/Chapel. Host spiritual retreats and monthly bible study as a way to deepen our faith and foster fellowship.
