2019 Confirmation

This fall at St. Francis, our 8th, 9th, and 10th grade students will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The sacrament of Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of initiation. The Catechism of the Catholic Church says it best: “The sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. In the sacrament of Confirmation, [the baptized] are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed" (CCC 1285). The implication of this truth is that the Sacrament of Confirmation is not a rite of passage into adulthood, nor is it a graduation from the Catholic Faith. Rather, this Sacrament allows us to live the fullness of our Catholic faith and become missionary disciples who are fully alive in Jesus Christ!

Confirmation Masses will be on the weekend of November 16 -17, 2019. 8th graders will be confirmed at the 5:00 p.m. Vigil Mass (Saturday); 9th graders at the 10:00 a.m. Sunday Mass; and 10th graders at the 1:00 p.m. Sunday Mass.
