Activities:
|
The purpose of the Respect Life Committee is to protect all
human life, from conception to natural death. Our committee
achieves this by carrying out projects in four areas -- education,
legislation, compassion, and on site. Examples of projects in
each area are:
|
Education:
|
Respect Life Week for School and PSR Students, pamphlet rack
literature, and video presentations.
|
Legislative:
|
Phone, letter, and e-mail campaigns to local, state, and
national legislators.
|
Compassion:
|
Joy of Giving Tree (collecting items for area crisis centers),
encouraging parishioners to support women in crisis pregnancies and
a monthly pro-life rosary.
|
On Site:
|
Encourage prayer and sidewalk counseling at local abortion clinics,
Life Chain and encouraging parishioners to live the gospel of Life.
|
Meetings are the second Tuesday each month at 7:00 p.m. in the former
rectory. The Respect Life Committee networks with other pro-life
organizations and works with the Diocesan Respect Life Office.
|
Meetings:
|
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul meets on the first and third
Monday of every month at 7 p.m. in the Parish Ministry
basement. Meetings are supportive gatherings of prayer and reflection
with a primary concern of charity and justice.
|
Mission:
|
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic lay organization
that leads its members to join together to grow spriritually by
offering persons-to-person service to individuals in need who live
within our parish boundaries. It is personalized involvement that
takes the form of intervention, consultation, or often through
direct dollar or in-kind service.
The Society collaborates with other stewardship committees in the
parish to help relieve the need and address the causes.
The Society is an international organization, organized locally,
making no distinction in those served because, in them, Vincentians see the
face of Christ.
|
Mission:
|
Aids in registration of voters during election years.
