October 14-19, 2024
Spend six days exploring numerous cities throughout Kansas and being inspired by the beauty and tranquility of 20 different churches! We’ll see many other stops along the way and be able to enjoy Mass each day of our tour!
1 // Pittsburgh, KS
Let’s hit the road today for a six-day pilgrimage to see some of our state’s most historic Catholic churches and interesting attractions. Enjoy a Bourbon Tasting and Lunch at Gunnar’s Distillery, then we’ll visit our first church and enjoy a private mass & tour of St. Patrick’s in Parsons. Visit the museum for the largest electric shovel in the world, Big Brutus! Our second church visit today is Sacred Heart in Frontenac, Kansas followed by dinner as a group.
2 // Overland Park, KS
Start the day by joining the Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes followed by a tour of the beautiful parish. Next we’ll enjoy a
tour of Sacred Heart in Mound City. Later watch as apples are squeezed into natural cider before your eyes, and observe the bottling process in action at Louisburg Cider Mill for a tour & lunch. Then we’ll make our way to Kansas City to visit the Cathedral of St. Peter. Tonight will be a fun treat with dinner and a show when we see Sally Struthers in “An Old-Fashioned Family Murder” at the New Theatre in Kansas City.
3 // Manhattan, KS
Begin today with a tour of St Patrick’s Parish in Atchison Kansas followed by a visit to the Amelia Earhart Hangar Museum to learn about the fascinating story of Earhart’s aviation legacy and see “Muriel,” the worlds last remaining Lockheed Electra 10-E, an aircraft identical to the plane Earhart flew on her final flight. We will attend public Mass with the Benedictine monks from St. Benedicts Parish followed by lunch at Benedictine College with an included tour of the parish and abbey. Enjoy dinner tonight in Manhattan together.
4 // Hays, KS
We’ve reached the halfway point and will start our day with a special private Mass & tour at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Concordia. Next on the agenda is a visit to the Orphan Train Museum to learn the curious history of the Orphan Train which began in 1854 and carried orphaned and destitute children and impoverished adults from the east coast into the West to find a new life. This resettlement system continued through the Civil War and World War I. Tour St John the Baptist parish in Beloit Kansas and then peruse the Garden of Eden or the beautiful Art Galleries in Lucas. Tonight we’re in for a special treat with a catered group dinner and a tour of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
5 // Hays, KS
Today we have a full day of tours of some of the many beautiful Kansas churches. St. Francis in Munjor, St. Anthony in Schoenchen, Holy Cross Church in Pfeifer (One of the eight wonders of Kansas Architecture). Also St. Fidelis in Victoria, St. Catherine, and a private Mass at St. Joseph in Damar.
6 // Home
Today is the final day of our adventure, but the fun isn’t over yet. As we head back home, we’ll visit St. Mary’s of Ellis, then explore Kansas’ most dramatic Niobrara chalk formations and hopefully some of the natural wildlife and flora at Little Jerusalem Badlands State Park. We’ll have a boxed lunch at the park today and then hit the road and stop off at Sacred Heart in Dodge City for a tour followed by public Mass and a tour at Cathedral of our Lady Guadalupe. Enjoy a quick dinner on your own before we head home for a late evening arrival!
