I'm New to the Parish

Dear Friend(s) in Christ,

Welcome to St. Francis of Assisi parish! My name is Fr. Jarrod Lies. I have been the pastor here since July 2015. It is my hope and prayer that you will be filled with blessings as you and I journey together in our discipleship with Jesus Christ.

The first step in becoming involved in St. Francis of Assisi parish is to join us at Sunday Mass. The Eucharist is the source and summit of our Catholic Faith. Your regular participation at Sunday Mass honors God, blesses our parish community, and floods your life with the immensity of grace. Also, visit our Perpetual Adoration Chapel, which is open 24-hours a day and located on the Northwest corner of the Church. We have a thirty-year tradition of adoring the Lord in the Eucharist and invite you to visit him in the Chapel whenever you can.

The next step is to say “Hi” to the priest after Mass. Fr. Isaac Coulter, Fr. Drew Dellasega, and myself are eager to meet you. We are here to help you in the adjustment to your new parish and to meet your spiritual needs. You can also call or email us whenever you need. Our contact information is in the bulletin and on the website.

Thirdly, don’t be afraid to introduce yourself to fellow parishioners after Sunday Mass or to get involved in the various prayer and formation opportunities that can be found in the bulletin. To help with this, once a month, the Welcoming Committee is at Church after all weekend Masses to provide new members with information packets. You can also ask a priest for a welcoming packet as well.

Fourthly, check out our website. You will find copies of our bulletin, Vernacular (parish newsletter), and council minutes under the communications menu option. This will give you all the latest information about current events in our parish.

Finally, make a visit to the church office. Our office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Julia Schauf, Sandi Baalman, or Patty Quilty will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Also, Pat Burns, our Director of Stewardship, will be able to help you learn about opportunities to serve in our parish or to take you on a tour of the campus.

While you are in the office you can also register. Registering places you on the parish mailing roster and provides the parish with the information necessary in case of an emergency. Registration opens the possibility to enroll children in the parish school, schedule baptisms or weddings at St. Francis of Assisi, use parish halls (which are available to registered parishioners only). Collection envelopes are mailed to registered parishioners on a monthly basis. We also encourage children to use collection envelopes (found in the church office). If you are not registered, you will have to obtain permission from the parish in which you are currently registered for a baptism or wedding to be held here at St. Francis of Assisi.

We sincerely hope that your reception here is warm and inviting. By following these steps - attending Sunday Mass, meeting the priests, introducing yourself to parishioners, visiting the church office, and registering in the parish - you will begin walking with the parish family of St. Francis of Assisi as fellow Disciples of Jesus Christ.

In Christ,

Rev. C. Jarrod Lies, Pastor
