What is an ACTS Retreat?
An ACTS Retreat offers an opportunity to experience the love of Jesus Christ and foster a deeper desire for intentional discipleship. ACTS Retreats are given by parishioners for parishioners, and in this way, serve to build Christian community at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and neighboring parishes in Wichita, KS and surrounding areas. Activities and discussions during the retreat focus on Adoration, Community, Theology and Service, from which the ACTS name is derived.

The ACTS Retreat Experience
Retreats for women and retreats for men are held separately on different weekends. ACTS retreats are for adults 21 years of age and older, and of every season in their faith journey. Whether a new convert, OCIA candidate, non-Catholic, or cradle Catholic, the retreat centers on our Catholic faith with a warm and welcoming environment, meeting us all wherever we are in our spiritual journey.
Retreat Schedule
The retreat starts and ends at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with the main activities and lodging at the Spiritual Life Center in Wichita, KS. The retreat begins Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and continues through the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday with a potluck lunch following.
It’s Spiritual Reflection & Surrender
The ACTS Retreat experience is rooted in the Pascal Mystery in that retreatants are invited to reflect on the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Throughout the weekend, retreatants are invited to prayerfully consider how they can respond to His love by spiritually surrendering to Jesus in order to have new life with Him.
Pillars of the ACTS Retreat
Adoration: Responding through prayer and worship to receiving God’s gifts of grace, mercy and love.
Community: Living and participating in the One Body of Christ as Church, beginning with the parish.
Theology: Deepening our relationship with God through prayerful study to better understand and fulfill His will for our lives.
Service: Answering the call to discipleship by following the model Christ gave us.

What is the Goal of an ACTS Retreat?
The ACTS weekend is designed to help retreatants enter into a new or deeper relationship with our Lord. This is accomplished through Adoration and daily prayer, the call to Community in one’s parish as a member of the Body of Christ, and Theology in encouraging the study of scripture and our Catholic Faith. All of these which emphasize and encourage the virtue of Service to our Lord, our parish and one another.
