Activity / Explanation
The Charities Committee sponsors four blood drives yearly for the American Red Cross. They also maintain food collection baskets located in the hallway between church and Clare Hall. These donations are taken by committee members to St. Anthony Family Shelter for distribution to the needy. The Charities Committee sponsors the Lenten food drive. Donated food from this drive is delivered by members of the committee to Catholic Charities Our Daily Bread Food Pantry. Our “Summer Harvest” drive benefits a number of charities, including St. Anthony Family Shelter, Guadalupe Clinic, Gerard House, Birthline, Harbor House, Dear Neighbor Ministries/Stepstone, Center of Hope, A Better Choice and Our Daily Bread Food Pantry. Every Tuesday committee members pick up bakery items donated by Dillon’s at 13th and Tyler and deliver them to St. Anthony Family Shelter and on Thursday they take them to Our Daily Bread Food Pantry to benefit the working poor and unemployed.
