Mission
To build a culture that cherishes and protects every human life from conception to natural death, especially those most vulnerable and weak, by ensuring a strong parish presence through education, prayer and service.
Activity / Explanation
The purpose of this committee is to educate and provide activities for parishioners on how to protect all human life, from conception to natural death.
Our committee provides activities in the following four areas:
Prayer: Pro-life prayer chain, Rosary for Life (October)
Education: Respect Life Week for School and PSR Students (October), pamphlet rack literature and Pro-Life bulletin board, and educational video presentations.
Legislative: Phone, letter and email campaigns to local, state and national legislators.
Service: Network with community organizations to provide volunteer / service opportunities for the following:
• Respect Life Week – Diaper / Wipes Drive
• Joy of Giving Tree – Collect items for area crisis centers
• Life Chain – First Sunday in October stand and pray at Maize / 21st intersection for end to abortion.
• March for Life – January (Topeka)
• Kansans for Life – Bottle Drive from Mothers Day through Fathers Day
• Sidewalk Advocacy for Life – Training provided free through the Diocese Respect Life Office to be present on sidewalk at abortion clinics to pray and advocate
• 40 Days for Life – Pray from home or on the sidewalk at Planned Parenthood twice per year for 40 day vigils (Lent / October)
• Birthline – Catholic based pregnancy center that needs volunteers and donations (monetary or supplies, ie. diapers/ formula/ etc)
• A Better Choice – Catholic based pregnancy center that needs volunteers and donations (monetary or supplies, ie. diapers/ formula/ etc)
