Knights Host Basketball Classic for Vocations

The 33rd Basketball Classic for Vocations between the Blue Knights of Knights of Columbus Council #4118 and the Padres (priests of the Wichita Diocese) is Sunday, Feb. 27. The game will take place at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School Activity Center.

Doors will open at 6 p.m., with tip-off at 7 p.m. Donations will be taken at the door. Proceeds from this game are used to support the Council’s religious vocations programs and to provide direct financial support to seminarians. The Padres lead the series with 19 wins to 13 for the Knights.

By hosting this event since its beginning, Bishop Carroll Catholic High School has been instrumental in the success of this program. The BCCHS Pep Band and cheerleaders have been an integral part of the festivities since the beginning.

The Basketball Classic has been blessed to have more than 70 priests, including four bishops, participate in the event. In fact, some of the priests on the Padres current roster weren’t born when this event first began!

There have been several businesses and individuals providing financial support over the years. This year’s business sponsors include Catholic Family Federal Credit Union, Landon Grams’ K of C Insurance, Damm Music Center, Eck & Eck, Leon Keiter-Attorney at Law, Apex Excavating, HiFi Dueling Pianos and Frosty’s DJ Service.

We hope to see you at this fun and worthwhile event. Prior Basketball Classics have raised more than $66,000 to support religious vocations programs.
