Do you play chess or would you like to learn to play?
The St. Francis Chess Team holds practices weekly on Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 from September to March and students can join at any time. Tournaments are held at various schools around the Wichita area throughout the school year. Students who attend 2 tournaments during the year will be qualified to play in the state tournament in March.
Why should you play chess? What are the benefits?
Chess is a game for all ages. Anyone from Kindergarten to 8th grade may join. Chess helps develop memory and improves concentration. It helps develop logical thinking skills. Chess is a great way to meet new people and have fun, all at the same time!
