Battle of the Books (BOB) is a voluntary reading competition for 5th and 6th grade students. Each year, a list of 20 books is designated for Battle of the Books competitions. These books are read by students in the 5th and 6th grades. Participants are placed on teams of four people, two teams per grade level, and then represent SFA in three competitions, where they earn points for correctly answering questions about the books, similar to a Scholars Bowl.
Competition practices begin in January and end in April, held every other Wednesday. The three BOB Competitions take place every other Wednesday in March and April. The schools competing against SFA are St. Peter-Schulte, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, and St. Catherine of Siena. The lists are available below.
